we are doing okay out there. no major incidents to report on the highways at this time in terms of accidents. let's look at 695 at wilkins. it's a closeup shot but traffic is moving no problems. outer loop to the left of the screen where most of the traffic is. that's usual for this time of day. accident free in the city. and in columbia, we have a detour 108 eastbound closed -- closed due to a tree down. 95 southbound before o'donnell street there's debris in the road. not an accident so they are working to get that out. megan. >> all right, thanks so much. there were loud cracks of thunder and nasty wind, heavy rains, and this morning we are looking more clear. but a lot of you have cleanup to do. abc2 news linda so is live with the latest. linda. >> reporter: yeah, they will be spending a lot of time this morning cleaning up the mess here. we are on niagara court. this is a neighborhood in halethorpe hit really hard during the storm last night. you can see the branches blocking the street. you can see where the trees

were snapped in half. the force of the storms really did a lot of damage in this neighborhood. on our drive through, we counted about 10 trees that were down just one after another. luckily, we are not hearing of any injuries in this area. but let me show you pretty serious stuff here. it's dark because when the trees came down, they brought down the power lines a lot of these homes without power this morning. but no injuries reported. bge crews were here and they left the scene and will be back in a little bit. but they say it could be a little while before the power comes back on just because of the damage it did in the area. you can see that other tree right there just snapped. you can imagine what happened here. those storms were pretty hard when they hit. bge crews tell us a few streets down there was actually a roof that was torn off one of the homes. the force of it it was so strong that it literally lifted a car up and landed under a car. that's the damage that we are hearing in the area. but again, no injuries. also in the dundalk area, there was a lot of damage that seemed

to be contes straighted in that -- concentrated in that area. a roof was torn off an apartment building there. we hear from a woman who told us when the roof came off, the rain was pouring down. literally it soaked everything in the apartment. all of her belongings, carpet and furniture and it's all gone. let's list tope what she had to say. >> i was -- listen to what she had to say. >> i was scared. one roof came off and another. i was worried that everything was going to fly in here. >> reporter: back out live here on niagara court in halethorpe, you can see the trees down. when they came down they brought the power lines with it. power will be out in the neighborhood for most of the day today. the soarous damage it did. bge crews hope to have it on sometime this afternoon. and they think later this evening just because of what it did here. but, again, when you are out and about today, be mindful that when the storms did come through, they brought down a lot of trees a. lot of power lines. you could come across those

ongoing investigation. sherrie. >> reporter: well, charley, abc2 news obtained search warrants for online accounts in the case of phylicia barnes. the warrants may provide a clue as to what happened to phylicia. in each warrant, authorities are investigating sexual exploitation of children and distribution and possession of child pornography. we don't know how it could be connected to her death. in one warrant, police are granted access to several facebook accounts which are all identified with numbers. the other warrants allow police to get information into several e-mail accounts two of can i containt name phylicia. she disappeared after christmas and her body was found near the conwingo dam. of course we will continue to follow the case and keep you updated with the latest information. reporting live from downtown baltimore, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. four minutes after five. the mother of a 6-year-old boy who drowned at sandy point

state park wants to prevent the tragedy from happening to somebody else again. saquan kennedy died after spending more than 10 minutes under water. -- underrer the water. -- underrer the water. witnesses -- under the water. witnesses say he went to retrieve a ball and went under. >> i don't understand this. this is a beach. where was the lifeguards? i mean if the beach was not open, why they let people on. >> they provide lifeguards from 11 in the morning until 6 at night and his mother says they need to add warning signs or make swimming off limits inform lifeguard arrive. 5:05 right now. officials are asking the question, what could have possibly happened? >> a small plane crashes into a hospital. so what investigators are saying about this this morning. and we may have wild weather here, but this is nothing compared to what's going on out west. we will show you when "good morning maryland" returns. we are first and only at 4:30 every morning.

video. people in den, very colorado is -- denver, colorado, a fierce thunderstorm rolled through the area. strong wind uprooted trees and knocked down power lines and heavy rains flooded the street. one man's car stalled and he pushed the vehicle through high water. you see him right there. >> unbelievable. if you are a fan of golf, the u.s. open is going on outside of denver. they were suspended by the storms. but if you were caught on a golf course late yesterday afternoon you were in just as much trouble. >> not the prettiest weather. let's get to lynette charles. hopefully today and this weekend will be better. >> the weekend is going to be better. but today, going into the afternoon, we will see chances for showers and thunderstorms in the forecast again. some of those could be on the severe side i hate to break the news. but we will be here to keep you updated if anything goes severe. we have a flash flood watch in effect and goes through late tonight and it's for all the areas here shaded in the green. and you know what? if we get trapped under some of

the showers and thunderstorms, you know the rainfall rate is up to about 2 inches in less than an hour. so that's why we do have that flash flood watch in effect. it's a potential for flooding that's possible. so we have mala's most powerful radar looking dry as of now. but i don't want you to think this is how it's going to be throughout the day because we have change coming across the area. so be forewarned. also, you heard me talk about some of those going severe. if it does, the storm prediction center has us in a slight risk and the biggest threat will be a wet microburst that's basically a column of air that goes through the ground and what it does is that it has some really strong wind. and those are the straight line wind. we are not dealing with a tornado. that's a straight line wind that causes a lot of damage. let's send it over to tonya with traffic. >> reporter: good morning. the debris we had in the road 95 southbound before o'donnell is now clear. so they got that out of way pretty quickly. let's look at the beltway which is moving fine. we don't have any incidents to

all right. thanks for joining us a live picture to show you from cape canaveral florida. it's the end of an era. nasa is closing its 30-year space shuttle program. >> at lappetis is scheduled to lift-- atlantis is scheduled to lift off in six hours but the odds of it taking place is slim to none. lightning and rainstorms are looming over the area. but there's some optimism. >> there's some opportunity so when we have opportunity generally we will take it. and that's what we want to do

because we want to-- it's a really tough day if you make a decision not to go and it turns out to be good weather. >> during the 12-day mission four astronauts will carry 8,000 pounds of food, clothes and critical parts to the international space station.>> the weather is an issue there and certainly here. i was curious if any of the rain we got yesterday mate up for the deficit we have been experience -- made up for the deficit wehave been experiencing. >> lynette? >> yes it did but not everybody got the rain just some scattered showers and thunderstorms across the area. today, i think it's going to be more widespread. so today is going to be the day that we really cover that deficit. actually, i think maybe we can go over that deficit. so we will see. we could have a surplus when it's all said and done. yesterday, the highs were 95 degrees. all that sunshine and we felt it. do it again. we are going to be dealing with temperatures today not as badch the reason is that we have the cloud cover and the rain that's going to be moving in as well. the temperatures not so bad

right now. we are warm and used to it and dealing with some very muggyweather once again. dew points in the 70s into dc, culpepper. 73 in easton and 68 in baltimore right now. 67 to york and this is how it is going to stay through the remainder of today. the satellite and radar picking up on cloud cover across the area. we had showers and thunderstorms yesterday early this morning and those are pretty much out but looking towards the west, we see another line of showers and thunderstorms and we are going to be getting that as we go into the afternoon. what's going on? we have a stationary front and this front is going to be the focal point of the showers and thunderstorms as we go throughout the day. that's been the scenario all week. we still have the warm feed of moisture across the area. lots of moisture to ring out of the atmosphere. and that's why we will have a downpour, and we could see the rainfall rates rather on the high side. future radar picking up on what i am talking about. you see around one, four and

those yellow and oranges and definitely thunderstorms in there. and also heavy rain across the area. than we go into saturday -- saturday and then you see a big smile because we are looking pretty good going into saturday and sunday. early saturday morning we could have residual rain. but then we will gradually clear out. nicely going throughout the day and end up with plenty of sunshine that will linger as we go into sunday. once again for today, the temperature coming in right around 86 degrees. the showers and thunderstorms a flash flood watch through the evening and then by tonight, that temperature right around 69 degrees. still more of the say, very soupy, very humid outside and then tomorrow, that temperature coming in right around 88 degrees. and again they are at a.m. showers i am talking about as possible. so it's not a guaranteed thing. and then that gradual clearing is guaranteed as we go throughout the day. here's the 7-day forecast. i know you like it. saturday, nice and dry, 88 degrees. 90 going into sunday and the key there is the fact that we will be less humid going
